My approach to therapy
When counseling I model after cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) counseling and solution-focused based therapy. This theory emphasizes thoughts and behavior and how they affect/direct each other. While there are many counseling approaches which will also be utilized, cognitive behavioral therapy will be the primary approach. You as the client will have an active role in setting and achieving your treatment goals. I often will ask that you complete homework assignments, as I believe that the work we do in session will be most effective if implemented in your life outside of therapy. Your commitment to a treatment plan is necessary for you to experience the most successful outcome. If you ever have any questions about the nature of the treatment or your care, please do not hesitate to ask. I work with adults and couples regarding depression, work life balance and improving communication.
