Jamila Dawkins is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has always had a heart for service. It was only fitting that she would choose a career dedicated to helping improve the lives of others. My approach to therapy
When providing therapy I utilize motivational interviewing. This directive counseling approach is client centered and allows the client the opportunity to change behaviors by exploring and resolving ambivalence. While there are many counseling approaches which will also be utilized, motivational interviewing will be the primary approach. You as the client will have an active role in setting and achieving your treatment goals. I may require you to complete homework assignments, as I believe that the work we do in session will be most effective if implemented in your life outside of therapy. Your commitment to a treatment plan is necessary for you to experience the most successful outcome. If you ever have any questions about he nature of the treatment or your care, please do not hesitate to ask.
